Hymn

WHAT
The iris reveals the depth of a personal identity
The iris is a secret landscape never before unveiled
The iris is our ultimate intimate cosmic map
A star in itself
The door to our vision, to light and to our minds

Iris of Francis Giacobetti

WHO
Over the last 30 years, the artist-photographer Francis Giacobetti has built up an exceptional collection of portraits of people of high intellect and strong spirit from the world of art, culture, science and politics - men and women who changed and enlightened our world and our lives.
Francis Giacobetti conceived a technical set up and a special device to capture the iris close up. For years, he toured the world to meet and photograph these personalities - a lifetime project for this artist.
Today, about 150 great figures of the turn of the millennium are assembled in this magnificent anthology. The sum of the parts of this long-term work shows the astonishing span of our times and reveals a stunning vision of human genius, intelligence and creativity.
